The 2015 Acura TLX has been spotted out testing.
The much-anticipated replacement for the Acura TL is on the way. The 2015 Acura TLX should complete the redesigned sedan line up for Honda’s premium mark which saw releases of the ILX compact, and RLX flagship in the past two years.
Acura has been struggling to get luxury buyers to embrace the current generation TL since 2009 . Initially released with a plasticky feel and odd-looking grill, the TL turned many current Acura owners to other premium Japanese and German makes. The 2015 Acura TLX will need to be a hit in order to get buyers back from BMW, Mercedes and Lexus.
The 2015 Acura TLX will have to not only look good but have a killer power train to get discerning luxury buyers into showrooms. Most experts believe that the front-drive TLX will share the same 3.5-liter V-6 featured in the two-wheel-drive RLX and the 2014 MDX crossover. Perhaps some additional power tweaks may be in store for a sports oriented variant. All-wheel-drive TLXs, on the other hand, could inherit the same Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive that drives the flagship AWD RLX. This new version of SH-AWD mates the 3.5-liter V-6 with a pair of 27-hp electric motors fitted to the rear axle.
